Devin Brady's Biography

Devin Brady is an author and illustrator with a love for all things whimsical! She loves telling life lessons through the eyes of young animals who are trying to find their places in the world. Her debut children’s book “I Have a Leech” tells the story of a young child learning to live with mental illness; a story that was pulled straight from her own experience! Growing up, Devin struggled with anxiety, depression, and Bipolar 1. She never felt like she fit in, much like Frilly the Frog. As an artist, she has always used a brush to tell her story. Now, as a young author, she has found a completely new way to do so!
Devin has always been young at heart, and her stories embrace it. As an illustrator, she spent a couple years learning from Ringling College of Art and Design. As an author, she has been writing creatively since she was a child. She has always had an affinity for working with youth, whether it be teaching an art club with her local 4H branch, or face painting for parties on the side! She enjoys her time working with the kids and loves to learn from them in the same way they learn from her.
Devin hopes to write more stories about important topics that are often hard for adults in a way that’s easy for children to understand. She enjoys the challenge and acknowledges that some taboos shouldn’t be taboos! As Frilly the Frog says at the end of her story, it’s time to “embrace those scary feelings”!
